It’s a musical journey with Jennifer Tefft & The Strange

Following her appearance last August, Boston-based musician Jennifer Tefft is back, this time to talk about her new band, Jennifer Tefft & The Strange. Joined by her bandmate “Sharky” we talk about their new album, “Strange Beginnings,” which dropped on May 17.

Jennifer and Sharky share the musical journey that the album takes us on, starting with the recent single releases “Caffeine” and “Going Out.” We go into their upcoming shows, including a performance on WMFO for Live Music Day.

Along with his music, Sharky is also a visual artist, and designed the band’s merch along with working on the cover art for the recent releases. We also get some hints as to what the future has for Jennifer Tefft & The Strange.

Opening this episode is an excerpt from “Caffeine” and closing the show is “Going Out” in its entirety.

Gene Dante talks about being back on stage and putting out new singles

If you're at all connected with the local scene of Boston, the name Gene Dante and the Future Starlets is a familiar one. It certainly is to me, and it's with great pleasure that I interviewed him for this episode! We talk about the band being back on stage at Ralph's Rock Diner and how it felt to play for a crowd once more.

Recently, Gene released two new singles, “High Time” and “She's Outside.” "High Time" is all about showing narcissists the door and removing the bad seeds from your life and Gene talks about how his own experiences with folks like this influenced the song. We take a look at the amazing music video by Director Silvia Graziano and what made it happen.

We also talk about the impact that the band has had over the years and the kind of effect that Gene hopes comes from all these years in music.

Following this, kick back and enjoy “High Time.” It's a great example of the band's glam rock sound and doesn't disappoint!

It's a double dose of Boston music with Linda Marks and Daniel Promotes

Linda Marks
As the title says, it's dual Boston artists in this episode. Kicking things off is singer-songwriter Linda Marks, who has a brand new album out called “Monuments of Love.” Inspired by and written during the pandemic, the album touches on a lot of the last year, from the health risks we were all faced with to separation anxiety to lost moments with loved ones.

Linda and I talk about how she stayed creative during this difficult time, even hosting a regular livestream music series. We also look at how she completed two other albums, “The Piano” and “Songs at the Heart of Life” during COVID. Linda also has a big triple album release show planned for Aug. 1 at The Burren in Somerville.

After Linda's interview, enjoy one of the tracks for the new album, “Prayers,” written for a musician friend who battled a hellish case of COVID but is now on the mend and singing once more.

Following this, I'm back with Daniel Promotes, and we also find ourselves chatting about the last 15 months and what it's been like for him. Daniel's also been hard at work joining Ambitious Writerz, and it looks like there's going to be touring in the near future. We look at the Boston rap scene and how it weather the pandemic, focusing on some artists who really made their mark with new releases during this time.

Boston artist recognizes friends and influences in new album

In this episode, I'm live with Boston-based musician Matt Jatkola for his new album, “Never Fixed.” The album is a collection of covers and remixes featuring artists such as Teagan and Sara, Cyndi Lauper, The Bee Gees, and Soft Pyramids. He talks about the different roles that the artists played, whether it was contributing to his own style or being a valued friend he's had over the years.

After the interview, enjoy two songs from the album, “I Was A Fool (Tegan & Sara Remix)” followed by “Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper Instrumental Cover).”
