This week, we welcome Hailey Magee from Emerging Boston Area Singer Songwriters [EBASS] for a special one-hour interview. We'll be talking about the other options for artists to get themselves seen in an era when so many venues are closing.
After that, we talk Nick Ingrisani & Zach Cohen of In This River. They've got a debut album coming out, and we'll have live music just for you!

Our fans in Salem won't want to miss our interview of the night with singer-songwriter Melissa Cote, better known as Duchess and the Royal Court. She's been playing in the city for some time, and she's eager to spread her wings and see what else awaits her.

Dec. 3, 2015: The Breakfast Project/Rachael McIntosh

The band The Breakfast Project are up first, and they've got some great stories to share! With some sick live tunes and a preview of upcoming shows, there's a lot to cover in the first hour of the program.

After that, we welcome back author Rachael L. McIntosh to talk about her new book, "The Big Show," book three of the "Security Through Absurdity" series. The series follows Jocelyn McLaren is a beautiful, hard working, yet naive visual artist who, through a twist of fate, ends up working for a major US defense contractor during the lead up to the Iraq war. She unknowingly witnesses and unwittingly participates in crimes that haunt her and are ultimately interlinked with the most nefarious psychopaths on the planet.

Nov. 19, 2015: Nintendo Quest/Jennifer Haes/Greg Adams

This week, Max and Matt are back together and live on WEMF Radio! We start out with Xavier Van Den Nouwland and Rob McCallum for Nintendo Quest, a documentary about the search for all 678 original NES games, all within 30 days and using no online tools.

Next up is author Jennifer Haes. We'll be talking about her newest book, "Tin Goddess," as well as her first one, âChanges in Crystal Springs.â What more does she have in store for us? Listen and find out!

Last but not least, singer-songwriter Greg Adams returns to tell us all about his newest album, "All or Nothing." We talk about his Boston shows, upcoming gigs in New York, and his recent fundraiser for veterans.

To start the show, we welcome back Kathy Brodsky to talk about her new book, âHigh Wire Act.â It's the latest release in her long line of beautifully illustrated children's books.

John Budenas of Fathom Booking & Promotions is on next and he talks about the many shows he's done with local bands, and the others he has in the works this fall.

We're ending theshow with author Adam Wasserman to talk about his three-part sci-fi trilogy, The Bunker series. The last book, "Your Call Is Important To Us," came out last spring, and the final segment will be out in the first half of next year.

BONUS: Singer-songwriter Liz Longley talks about her performance in the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum's RISE series of concerts. This unique showcase pairs established artists with others newer to the music world.

Nov. 5, 2015: Carol Ascher/Michael Hartigan/Buell Hollister/Force Us To Stop

We've got the authors lined up for this show.....it's like our very own book festival! Plus, lots of great local music!

First up is Carol Ascher for her newest book, "A Call From Spooner Street," in which an estranged father and daughter are thrown back together after years apart. She talks about how this helped her deal with the experience of being banished by her own father years ago.

An old work friend of Max's is on next to talk about his new book, "Stone Angels." Mike Hartigan tells us what led him to pen this tale of dark secrets and how they are never truly gone.

Author Buell Hollister launches the second half of the show with his story of the adventures one can have with a shrunken head....seriously, that's what the book is about, but it's funny as hell! We learn more about Leeram and Gilbert and where their unusual journey takes them.

Four years ago Michael Scrima was on to talk about his band Force Us To Stop, and after all this time he has a new lineup and new plans. We hear what he and fellow band member Pat Speece have in store and listen to a couple tunes they produced.

Oct. 29, 2015: Psychic Dog/Innsmouth/Jeff Campbell

Psychic Dog have a brand new album, "Audios Heuvos" that they released on Halloween. They play a sick live set and afterward, talk about what went into this new release, including working with James Trout at The Dojo in Somerville.

Filmmaker Izzy Lee and Max pre-recorded this interview the night before the show to talk about her new short film, "Innsmouth," a take on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. It's a subject that Izzy's a huge fan of, and we give a couple previews of what to expect.

Last but not least if San Francisco-based singer-songwriter Jeff Campbell. He's also got a new album to talk about, "The Kitchen Sink." We spin a bunch of these songs, and give the details of shows he has coming up in Philadelphia and San Francisco.

Oct. 15, 2015: Terry Kitchen/Scott Simmons/Rasmussen Brothers

Singer/songwriter Terry Kitchen is up first, and he has some great stories to tell through his new CD, "The Post American Century." It's a collection of deeply personal tales that touch at the heart of many current events and problems. He also plays a couple live tunes and previews some upcoming shows.

Author Scott Simmons is on the line for our next segment. We talk to him about his soon to be released fantasy novel, "Broken Ties," second in a trilogy of books. As the title implies, things go a little south for the hero of the story, and Scott gives us a glimpse into what happens and how he crafted this fantasy world.

Just in time for Halloween the filmmaker duo of Michael and Shawn Rasmussen take us on a journey into the surreal and scary with their new movie, "The Inhabitants." A haunted house chiller set in a historical Salem home, this movie promises scares from two masters of the genre. They also offer their thoughts on the haunted house genre and how the lengthy process of finishing a movie can have challenges of its own.

Jordan of the hip-hop duo Joe Grizzly shares some of their sick flows and outlines the many shows they have lined up in October. We also nerd out on anime and comics and talk about the creative process behind their work. You know, just a regular Citywide!

Simone Scazzocchio shares a very energetic interview with Max, talking about the incredible RISE program he and Shea Rose have put together. Pairing together established and emerging artists from all over, this program brings some new sounds to the Isabelle Stewart Gardener Museum.

Author Mike Resnick is one of the judges of the Writers of the Future contest. In the final interview, he tells us how winning this coveted competition can boost one's career, and the judging process. How quickly does a book have to get his attention? Listen and learn!

Oct. 1, 2015: Thea Hopkins/Victoria Corliss and Leigh Brown/Loren Schechter/Radclyffe Hall

We open the show with singer/songwriter Thea Hopkins, back from a recent tour of the UK and with new music in the works. Thea tells us all about what a show overseas is like, and how the audience experience can be a very different thing from here. We also talk politics and how she approaches such subject in her music.

Authors Victoria Corliss and Leigh Brown provide insight into their collaborative writing process that produced "Second Chances" and "The Pie Sisters." Along with how they craft such diverse and interesting characters, they share how their own background set some of the foundation for their writing.

Loren Shcechter is certainly a diverse writer, with one book about murder in a small town and another about a high school for vampires. What led him to pursue such different genres? We learn about this and the many people who played a part in his books' creation.

The bands Radclyffe Hall and St. Nothing tells us about their many show experiences, including a big one they had at the Middle East. We also talk about the future of music, and where they see the industry going in the next few years.

Sept. 24, 2015: Newton Frohlich/Jocelyn Arndt/Michael DeMasi/Mayor of Rock and Roll

Newton Frohlich opens the show with his book, "The Shakespeare Mask." It's a heavily-research fictional story on the man many believe to be responsible for writing some of the most well-known works in literary history. Why would such a learned man use the name of a peasant to publish his works? Learn the answer to these and more questions in this interview.

Jocelyn and Chris Arndt play a great live set and tell us about the 100-plus shows they've played over the last year. They've also got a new album in the works, with a different style from their past music.

Last time we spoke to Michael DeMasi, it was to talk about his thriller, "The Bostonian."
Well, he's back, this time to share the story of his novel, "What the Cold Night Holds." This has been a real page-turner, a gritty story from the streets of Pittsburgh. The details are stunning, the story gripping, and the characters brought to life with Michael's unique style.

BONUS: Max talks to Brendan Boogie and Nicole Marie, two of stars of the great movie "The Mayor of Rock and Roll," written and directed by Mark Phinney. It was among the stellar movies at the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival.

Sean Fay Wolfe opens the show with his trilogy of books, "The Elementia Chronicles," based on the popular game Minecraft. He outlines the story, characters, and educational qualities that he sees in the game.

Lance Tobin is well known for the shows he books at Brighton Music Hall, and in the second hour, we look at the shows he has in the works, his thoughts on the recent club closings, and what he has in store this fall.

We're bringing you tons of musical guests this week. Tom Dowd of the band Strange Changes gives us the scoop on a video they're going to record at Davis Square Theater on Oct. 2. Along with their amazing original tunes, the band will also perform with the Somerville Symphony Orkestar! It's not to be missed!

Ellen Feld is an author with a lot of horse sense.....OK, that was a lousy pun, but her books are great. Learn why she prefers a more realistic style of story as opposed to one with magic ponies, and how she started her company, Willow Bend Publishing.

The guys from Three Points of Madness bring the show to a close with a look at their new album, "American Papers." They've got a lot to say with this one! Plus, we talk about legendary basses that Ron Pacheco uses.
