Citywide Blackout at the Nines Festival

Delta Spirit, one of the many bands at the Nines Festival
This Saturday, the 35-acre Willard Field in the town of Devens will host the annual Nines Festival, a diverse lineup of nationally touring and emerging performers some of the best visual artists with art installations, exhibits, interactive art projects, and unique crafts.

The all ages festival, which takes place just 35 miles west of Boston, will feature music performances on two stages with no overlapping sets while the region’s best emerging to established comedians will take up residence under the “Stitch” comedy tent curated by Harvard Square’s The Comedy Studio and hosted by the Comedy Studio’s Rick Jenkins. Four shows will feature sets by Erin Judge, Joe List, Mehran Khanghani, Ken Reid, Bethany Van Delft and Jenny Zigrino.

Citywide Blackout co-hosts Max Bowen and Matt Zappa will be there interviewing the artists, talking to the fans and giving an in-depth look at what makes this such an amazing event, with plenty of photos and videos posted to the show's Facebook and Twitter pages. Be sure to follow the show on these sites to see the action as it happens!

Bands at this event include Boston favorites Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys and Air Traffic Controller, along with Delta Spirit and Explosions in the Sky, comedians Ken Reid, Bethany Van Delft and Erin Judge.

Art lovers will want to check out Kenny Ide and Lia Cornella's fire performance, hoop dance performer Nikki Stephens, and Fitchberg's Rollstone Studios. These are just a few of the great performers, and you'll want to clear your Saturday to check out all of them.

The gates open at noon, with the music kicking off at 1 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m.

The NINES festival is co-produced and presented by 3Rivers Arts and Great Northeast Productions, Inc.
