Did you know that under Massachusetts law it is a
felony to cruelly abandon an animal? The Animal Rescue League of Boston
is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing domesticated animals
and wildlife from suffering, cruelty, abandonment, and neglect. Since
1899 the ARL has advocated the philosophy that “Kindness Uplifts the
World.”
On November 23, three local bands will perform at the Rock & Roll for Rescue Animals benefit show for the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
Sponsored by the UNregular Radio show “Citywide Blackout” and Emcee’d
by Citywide Blackout host Max Bowen, the show will be held at the Radio Music Club, 379 Somerville Ave. in Somerville.
The following bands will be playing:
· The Ghost of Vigoda, a 5-piece indie jamband, will lead off the evening at 9 p.m.
· Root Nine, an indie rock band based out of Framingham, will play at 10 p.m.
· Alen of Dale, a mash-up of rock, Americana, and folk, will play at 11:30 p.m.
The show takes on a personal angle, according to Root Nine bassist and show organizer Matt Barber.
“My
wife and I have a dog who came through an animal rescue organization,”
Barber says. “I’ve always wanted to do something to pay it forward and
support a cause that I believe in, and the Animal Rescue League of
Boston was the perfect organization to do this for.”
